Even in the midst of the corona outbreak, it has been successfully grabbing eyeballs and making headlines worldwide. The entire premise of the show revolves around the exploits and the larger than life persona of the infamous animal breeder Joseph Maldonado-Passage nicknamed Joe Exotic. It also exposes the dark underbelly of the big cat breeding program in the United States, highlighting the ill-treatment of these endangered majestic animals. The first season over the course of 7 episodes, covers different aspects of Joe Exotic such as:
- The provocative practice of breeding the big cats for his celebrity clientele. 2) Clashes with and attempt to murder animal activist Carole Baskin. 3) An insider view into his “private zoo,” Oklahoma’s Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park. 4) Meteoric rise as a T.V. personality and shady indulgence in politics. 5) Finally, his run-in with law enforcement ending with a 22-year federal prison sentence. But the show isn’t over yet, and the curtains are yet to fall!
Netflix’s Tiger King Season 2 Renewal
Though Netflix has not yet officially given the green light for renewing the Tiger King, a successful first season has the social media dying for more juicy reveals. Producer Rebecca Chaiklin has kept up the viewer’s hopes by floating the possibility of a second season since they have a treasure trove of footage that they could certainly use to continue with the storytelling. The chances of renewal are high as Nielsen ratings suggest that its high viewership numbers put it among Netflix’s most highly successful launches to date.
Netflix’s Tiger King Season 2 Release Date
If renewed, Tiger King Season 2 will be released on Netflix in April 2021. In the wake of the deadly coronavirus pandemic, all type of filming has been halted worldwide. Therefore, in spite of a possible renewal by Netflix, we may be looking at least this year’s end, till production for the Tiger King can resume. Hopefully, the earliest release date could be somewhere around April 2021, as we mentioned above. As soon we can get an official release date, we will update it here.
Netflix’s Tiger King Season 2 Expected Storyline
Season 1 ended with Joe Exotic facing federal charges and him serving a 22-year prison sentence. However, there is more to the story, with three more possible avenues that can be followed in the second season. Firstly, a deep dive into Joe Exotic’s lawsuit against the U.S. government for arresting him under false charges, accusing his former partner Jeff Lowe of lying and planting evidence. More can be shown about the current condition and the fate of his zoo, post his prison term. A second possibility is exploring more of Carole Baskin. She is a former exotic animal breeder turned activist. It could focus on her life and her initiative “The Big Cat Rescue” and show how it is “different” from her counterpart’s animal abuse practices. A third thread worth investigating is one of Joe’s former and very colorful colleague Mahamayavi Bhagavan “Doc” Antle, his many wives and his currently operating private zoo, The Institute for Greatly Endangered and Rare Species (T.I.G.E.R.S.) in South Carolina, US.
Netflix’s Tiger King Season 2 Trailer
Due to the lack of an official renewal from Netflix, there is no trailer for the second season yet. But not to worry, Netflix has released a teaser for the 8th and possibly final episode for season 1. It will be hosted by Joel McHale and will feature interviews with people associated with Joe and this fiasco.
