According to a report that came out, Late Tommy Lister Jr. had confirmed in a fan meet and greet that Disney is aiming for a trilogy to Zootopia. He confirmed at the time that he was working in another one of Zootopia films and Disney was planning to have another one as well. The actor went on how Zootopia films were one of the biggest films that Disney was producing. He claimed that Zootopia itself had a budget of $240 million along with the advertisements. Even so, the film made 2.6 billion, with merchandising and the box office. Meanwhile, the upcoming film had a budget plan of $300 million excluding that for advertisements and marketing. But, this said video of him sharing the news was immediately taken down from social media. Nevertheless, it has to be noted that Disney never came out publicly to deny the projects.
Zootopia 2 Release Date
According to several reports, Zottopia 2 is set to be released on 24th November 2021. This is because Disney has apparently reserved 8 release date spots in 2021 for several untitled films. While there is a high possibility the film to be released on the aforementioned date is Encanto, it has not been confirmed. So, unless Disney fails to put out a teaser for Zootopia 2 this summer, chances are the film will be released next year. If the teaser does come out, that would give Disney nearly 5-6 months before its release. But this would then possibly hinder Disney’s plans for its animated television series, Zootopia+. This show is about to feature the land of Zootopia while having its sights set on characters like Fru Fru, the arctic shrew, Flash, the Sloth, and some friends of Gazelle. As mentioned above, Disney is aiming for Zootopia to have its own trilogy. Due to this, they have been trying to invest in the right places by creating a show on it. Moreover, there is a Zootopia-themed Land that is currently in development in Shanghai, China. This place will be situated in Shanghai Disney Resort. But, ever since the COVID-19 broke out in the country, the construction has been halted. These investments will only build up Zootopia sequels to have great success in the Box Office. And according to the reports, Disney has already started working on the third part in the trilogy, Zootopia 3: Saving Judy. This film is reportedly set to be released way later on 29th June 2024. What will be the Plot for Zootopia 2?
By the end of Zootopia, we saw how Nick Wilde became the first Fox in the Zootopia Police Department. And now, he was the partner to Judy Hopps, as they both fought the criminals to keep the city safe. However, the Black German Sheperd, Tadashi Gorki, the sinister spy has stolen a secret sample with powers from a factory. Meanwhile, the antagonist from the first film, former Mayor Bellwether has been released from jail. And now, she aims to get back at Nick and Judy to have her imprisoned. Elsewhere, Nick, Judy, and Tadashi will be sent over to the capital city – “Charmingtown”. Here they will try and take down the remnants of bandits, Bellwether, and their minions. But there is another sinister plot in the works. Ferb Dogfalusi has managed to create an evil potion to turn herbivores into violent predators.
